He began his career as a Structural Engineer at Arup, where he developed a strong foundation in building design and construction.

Transitioning to the financial sector, Ian spent 18 years at Barclays, ascending to pivotal roles such as Model Risk Director and Managing Director of Portfolio Analytics and Reporting. His work in credit risk measurement, model validation, and risk management provided him with deep insights into financial systems and analytics.

In his most recent role at Deloitte, Ian has spent over 15 years as a Risk Advisory Partner in the Financial Services Risk practice, delivering complex projects on Credit Risk, Operational Risk, Climate Risk and capital management to clients across the globe. He specialises in developing and validating credit risk models, managing regulatory changes, and applying cutting-edge technologies like machine learning to transform risk functions.

Ian splits his time between homes in London and Bucharest so has a good understanding of both Western and Eastern Europe’s cultures and business practices. As an advisor at Goldstone, Ian combines his engineering expertise, financial acumen, and risk management prowess to advise on property development projects in Croatia. His multifaceted experience ensures that Goldstone’s developments are governed appropriately so that the business manages both the financial and construction project risks in line with investors’ risk appetite.
